We were inspired to do this walk from the summits of Buchaille Etive Beag. It was yet another hot clear day, wonderful views along the lairigs.
Very imposing walls of rock each side, an easy path, it made you feel very small (in a good way!). A surprising amount of climbing but you didn’t really notice it, at least on the way out.
Steep drop at the far end and the walk through the plantation was fine for us, it had been dry. Can imagine it could be messy after heavy rain, though. You can cut over by the fence to cut the drop and climb off, of course we didn’t!
It’s a long climb back up into the return lairig (did we really drop that far?!), the views looking backwards just get better and better. We also saw a couple of eagles.
After the summit it’s easy going, another superlative walk surrounded by huge walls. You can see people in the summits, just! I suspect it was busy up there but we almost had the place to ourselves.
The section on the old military road is indeed vague and has a tendency to be boggy, but gradually improves. Not too bad but good to get it over given all the road noise.
Fabulous walk, as this is the only report at time of writing, I sense it’s not popular. In good weather, it should be. Try it!
