Fort Augustus to Greenfield (Part 2)

After bridge, canal enters Loch Oich and path follows the full length of loch. It was very still muggy conditions and the dreich came in which brought out clouds of midges out - no stopping here, had to keep moving along an old railway path.

At the end of Loch Oich, there is the old Invergarry Railway Station and the rain as well as midges had gone now. Looks like this place is under restoration.

Path meets A82 and reaches the Laggan Swing Bridge with a nice view up Loch Oich. Weather also started to clear.

The first climb of the day starts shortly after the bridge leaving the A82 - a steady climb up a forest track with only fleeting views over Loch Oich

Path continued through forest entering Glen Garry with the occasional view down to Invergarry.

The forest finally comes to an end as the forest meets a quiet road alongside the fast flowing River Garry at Mandally.

Road finally comes to an end and there is a path going down to the right which then crosses over the footbridge rejoining a forest track. The views start to open up now as large areas of the forest have now been felled. It is probably one of the better times of the year to walk this as the heather is re-establish itself and in full bloom adding colour to what would be a desolate landscape. Also, the distant mountains start to come into view.

Finally reach the Greenfield farm and leave the trail here walking back to the Kinloch Hourn road where my lift awaits. Nice view in both directions at the bridge over Loch Garry.

A very enjoyable walk this. Not too tasking in terms of terrain allowing plenty of mileage to be covered. Tougher terrain to come in next couple of days, but scenery certainly goes up a level.
