Getting Back to it on Wild Boar Fell

It had been late July when I last ventured out onto the fells with the reason of my absence being preparing for Grace going away to St Andrews Uni (yes I'm very proud of her! ). It seemed far more important to spend a bit of time with her rather than galivanting off into the hills but with her safely ensconced north of the border I figured a return was well overdue. One thing about this time off is my old knees don't like the lack of use very much, the less I walk, the the associated muscles become weaker and I start getting Jip. I figured the more forgiving slopes of the Dales would be a good place to start to build hill fitness and where better than my old friend Wild Boar Fell on a glorious Autumnal Morning.

There have been quite a few reports over the years featuring Wild Boar Fell and friends and I'm really not sure I have much to add in terms of route descriptions. I'll let the photos I took on the day and my GPS track do the talking for me for what was a fairly blissful wander in perfect walking conditions.

The perfect leg-loosener JK, and looked to be perfect weather for it too. Wild Boar Fell and Mallerstang is one of my favourite areas of the Pennines - makes a worthy alternative to the Lakes when seeking gentler gradients and wilder solitudes. Congrats to Grace for getting into St. Andrew's - one of the UK's top uni's
