Arrived at the Ski Centre car park around 9.15am on a dry October morning. Forecast was promising a dry spell of weather. For a bit of fun and to avoid the first steep, rough path we took the chairlift up! We’re not purists! Following the Walkhighlands description we headed off over a rickety bridge and followed the cycle track up the hill. Unfortunately, it seemed that we wouldn’t br getting any views higher up as there was clouds sitting on the top. Great views though looking back over Rannoch Moor and Buichaille Etive Mor. Into the mist we went. The terrain was a mix of loose stones and boggy areas. Made it to the top of Meall a’Bhuiridh! No views whatsoever. We decided to bash on down the ridge as the path seemed reasonable. Lower down the views opened up and fabulous views they were. The track is easily walked to start heading up onto the plateau of Creise. There is a little bit of scrambling but nothing too difficult. Lots of good foot and hand holds. There’s a good cairn marking the top of the scramble which is needed to find your way back later. An easy walk on to the summit cairn. We took a walk onto the end point as we weren’t sure if it wasn’t higher. By this time the mist had lifted and we could see for miles. We could even see Skye. 8) It was quite windy so we didn’t hang around for long. Back down to the cairn marking the exit point off the plateau of Creise. Back along the easy ridge to resummit Meall a’Bhuiridh. It a rocky climb up but not difficult. Views over to the Bridge of Orchy hills, Rannoch Moor, Corrour, Ben Nevis, the Mamores and Glencoe hills. Great! The path down was a little slippery but not too bad. Back to the chairlift down made for a great day. We had mist, ridge walk, scramble, boulder fields, wind, sunshine, bog, plateau walk. A bit of everything!
