It’s been a while since being out on the hill. Two walks had to be cancelled due to my unable to breathe without explosive coughing but as I felt much better this week, I grabbed my hat, dog and Salbutamol and headed on up Glen Clova.

Glad to see the snow was all but gone on the excellent path but this left a lot of slippery mud to sludge through on the way.

It was a glorious day for walking, Mez ran everywhere of course. I wore my new thermal base layer mum had sent for a Christmas present (thanks again mum) and I wasn’t long walking before the sweat was pouring and my face was red. The coat had to come off and eventually, so did my top.

I did struggle a bit the first 20 minutes, guess my lungs took a beating with that cold but a few blasts on the puffer and I was getting better.

Getting nearer to my destination, the Snub can be seen. I don’t think I would ever have the nerve to go up there!

Then I reached frozen Loch Brandy.

Good path up the Snub?

The blobs on the top are people. There were quite a few people walking up Clova today

After taking some pictures, I found somewhere to sit and share my butty and Dundee cake with Mez. I thought about heading on up to visit Green Hill again but I was too comfortable where I was, so we sat to enjoy the quiet.

After 20 minutes, we headed back.

The puddle is Loch Heath.

I know it was only a small walk, but it gave my lungs the blast test they needed and some quiet time for me. Not quite fit, but I’m getting there...

Brilliant report and pictures MW!

You are fab at educating me about parts of Scotland I had never heard of. Loch Brandy? When I read the title of your report I thought you were drinking a fair amount of it to nurse yourself back to health!!!

Please tell me you weren't doing a 'calendar girl' style of report when you took off your jacket and top!! Might see a lot more blokes in Glen Clova if you were!!!

Some great photies here. Particularly like the one of Mez waiting on the trail looking down the hill. Makes me want to get out and run this path.

Did the Glen Clova half marathon in 2009, in driving rain and cloud almost down to the deck. Good to see the place in better weather today.

Nice one!

That's a whole other story that is!

Great report MW - I'd love to see Loch Brandy frozen over. I'll be saving Ben Tirran for a winter walk. Might have to be another winter now though. :(

Great report MW - not sure what Salbutamol is but send me some in the post please?!! Lol Mez looking her majestic self as usual too. What's the deal with the "Snub". The pic you posted didn't look tooo bad considering some of the walks you have done? Am I missing something?
