Garbh Bheinn (Loch Leven), a mighty fine climb! :) :) :)

Val and I have enjoyed many years with our previous campervan called Hector exploring the Highlands, Islands and elsewhere, loving the life in a converted transit custom van. Now its a new era beginning in our slightly larger new wheels, a ducato van with heating and a few more mod-cons. Dougal is his name and adventuring his game

Wakening up in Glencoe parked below Stob Dearg looking across here towards Rannoch Moor, Meall a' Bhuiridh and Creise mountains ranges after having arrived late the previous evening.

The always impressive mountain peak Stob Dearg rising to over 1000 metres high, Buachaille Etive Mor the perfect back drop for breakfast :)

The sun rising higher just before heading for the wonderful drive down through the Pass of Glencoe to the Village and taking a right turn onto the B863 for the start of our walk near Caolasnacon :)

The beginning of the ridge seen from the parking space, Torran nan Crann the initial hike up :)

Dougal the campervan there, parked up and enjoying his first thrill going mountain climbing :)

Spectacular scenery quickly appears after the early boggy approach, and the weather was a treat to behold (well done Val, my own wee weather girl).

The aspect westward taking in views of Sgorr na Ciche (or Pap of Glencoe) and the lands across the sea reaching Ardgour, Maclean country north of the Isle of Mull :)

The Aonach Eagach ridge provides the views to the south, simply mesmerising :)

Up on to Stob Coire Sgoilte now, a fancinating stage of the climb after a very steep section. Not far now up on the summit area of Garbh Bheinn :)

Wow, wow, wow .... this is some mountain, a very special place to be. Mountains and the sea, you cannae beat it. Loch leven stretching out there through Ballachulish and into Loch Linnhe :)

Aonach Eagach again from a bit higher up. This section of Garbh Bheinn is a pure joy! :)

Val and I met two other couples at different stages on the mountain last Saturday and we all were clearly in awe and so grateful for the gift of freedom, despite these crazy days of 2020 :)

After savouring our time on top, it was time to carefully make tracks back down the mountain retracing our steps :)

I always love an opportunity for a magical lochan shot! An skimming of ice present too :)

The hills, mountains, glens, burns, rivers, lochans, lochs and the sea are God's Country here in Bonnie Scotland, to be treasured and looked after forever. Scotland Forever, there's a fine tune and a song to go along with this

Our weekend started here ......

And ended on the hillside here on Sunday with morning coffee views over Loch Tulla before driving home, refreshed, renewed and dreaming of exciting times ahead whether it be further adventures local, near of far :) :) :)

That's a very enjoyable hill Bod.... I'm sure it's overlooked by many, what with all the bigger hills close by. Looks like you had a great day for it too.

Just commencing my own van-life experience at the moment, but think my Scudo will be a lot more basic than your posh new van 🤣

Garbh Bheinn is an absolute cracker

Enjoyed reading your report so much Bod, for both your Garbh Bheinn, (which I climbed on a fine day in October 2019) and campervan adventures.

We were parked up not that far from you on Friday evening at the Victoria Bridge car park in our campervan which my husband lovingly converted over the past 18 months. There were some fraught moments but my memories are a bit rose tinted now

We had the most amazing day on Stob a Choire Odhair and Stob Ghabhar on Saturday, sat on both summits for ages just loving life. For me it was extra special as it was my first Munros since having my kidney removed in February due to cancer, and I’m now looking forward to many more hillwalking expeditions in Ivor

First of all the fine images capture this hill. myself I don't have any of this hill done before I had a camera. From sea level up direct to the summit very fine.
I was a much younger strider when I had a grand day out along with the other Corbett hill on the other side of the sea Loch.....no comparison though with this fine hill.

That's great lochfyne, you so deserved a wonderful day in the Black Mount. It was an amazing weekend last week. I had a brush with cancer just over 3 years ago, and the outdoors a campervan adventures have been key to getting on with life
