Allison had been after Dumyat for a while - I'd been going to tag it onto the end of an early day coming down the A9 for a while but never got round to it. So this was a chance. Crap weather forecast - we headed off about 9am not really expecting the hill to be that busy in the clag and rain. Got to the car park, after negotiating the very steep stone-walled road and found the car park rammed...no spaces at all. Puzzled we drove along the road, coming to rest at another car park at Mine Woods, a mile or more further away.
Took a path through the woodland and around the Cocksburn Reservoir to reach the start of the walk - where we found the other 2 car parks similarly full up. Man there are strange folk around here, keen to get up Dumyat on a crappy morning. We started off up the hill just after 11 and soon started to see droves of folk coming down, like some kind of zombie dawn of the dead film with a hill walking twist. Maybe there's some local law that says you have to be off the hill by noon, thought I. After seeing a few older men wearing Glengarries, it slowly dawned on us that there's an A&S Highlanders Memorial at the top of the hill, and it was remembrance Sunday...ah well.
Busy for a crappy day...

By the time we reached the top, all the others had descended, so we had a bit of peace and quiet to eat our lunch after we'd found a sufficiently sheltered spot to do so. Then back to the car over very slippy muddy tracks.
