Weren't expecting to get out as the weather looked horrible, but the forecast improved and there was a break in the weather in the afternoon. We drove the few miles down the road to Lynebeg and headed down the familiar track. The colours were beautiful in the afternoon light

We crossed the burn easily and started heading uphill

Looking back to Loch Moy as we climbed higher

There were a fair few people out and about today taking advantage of the weather window. The first and longest steep section was out the way and there was a bit of a respite for my lungs

Looking back towards Inverness and the Kessock Bridge

Meall Mor

We caught the very edge of a shower - not enough to get wet but a wee rainbow came out
Image

Finally at the summit of Carn na h-Easgainn - bit windy for this!!

Malky's hair is taking over

Looking down to Loch Ruthven and Strath Nairn

The Glen Kyllachy wind farm
Image

The weather was holding and we decided to continue the circuit - we continued along the track, unfortunately the wind was absolutely brutal
Image

Finally the track started dropping down and turned so we were less directly into the wind

The viaduct

The wee shooting hut where we had sheltered from the rain last time we'd been here!
Image

Finally we dropped down towards the farm - the wind had lessened fortuately
Image

One dodgy river crossing later we were on the road - from here it was a few km back to the car, a lot more uphill than Malky was trying to persuade me
