With a heavy dump of late snow hitting Scotland, I packed my snowshoes and headed for the Eastern Highlands...
Video:
Sometimes these hills get a bad press with some believing them to be a bit more benign than their western counterpart, but I often find the eastern hills to have a more remote feel given their wide open spaces , I don't know, might just be me! Anyway I headed off from the usual parking spot at the Spital and the snow was deep with a nice , if somewhat annoying frozen layer which my boots crunched through to then sink down into the softer stuff - energy sapping to say the least! The day was looking good and my energy sapping footsteps were soon a thing of the past as I picked up argo tracks taking me almost all the way to the summit! The views(when the cloud cleared) made me feel like an artic explorer - a fantastic day in the snowy hills.....
