The route description will keep you right. We walked this in December so the boggy areas were quite kind. I would not try this route in the summer. Loch Skeen is fantastic but after you reach it, the work begins! The next hill is brutal and boggy to the plateau of Lochcraig Head. You must then detour North to reach the summit.
From then on it is fairly :D easy going round to the summit of White Coomb.
The descent is very steep in parts, requiring concentration.
It is possible to cross the burn without getting wet if you've got your best boots on.

All in all, A brilliant day out

I remember adding in the other Donald, Molls Cleuch dod to this route not much of a detour off the route,
Like most Donalds these were a soggy wet sponge when up top. There werd lads repairing the "path" down from White Coomb.
Had a bit of a mission getting across the stream on the way back; just ploughed through in the end

There is a generally not boggy alternative route avoiding the morass at the top of Winterhope by crossing the Tail Burn on the stepping stones as it exits Loch Skeen then head up Mid Craig to the hollow between Firthybrig Head and Donald's Cleuch Head then up to Lochcraig Head but it does mean coming back on yourself to get to White Coomb.
