Could we include Beinn Fhionnlaidh????

This is an old report but during Lockdown 2020 it gives time to write up an epic old route. This one from 2014 was when we had one of those brilliant weather days you don't want to miss to try and do a big route (for us pensioners!) In our rush to get to Glen Affric we forgot the butties, but a little shop was iopen when we got to the village at 8.30
The big issue was would we be fit enought ro bag Beinn Fhionnlaidh & then reclimb Ben Eige???

Lovely walk in, but we could have used the mountain bikes & reclimbed the first two Munros, but not of course the way we came back

After the reascent we decided to avoid reclimbing the first Munro & took the ridge, Stob Coire Dhomhnuill. This was a bad move
Its very hard to find the path down into the valley, take your life in your hands. Plus the valley was extremely wet!!!

There was supposed to be a stalkers path, but we coudln't find any trace of it!!!

We were certainly tires by the time we had to walk along the wet valley bottom

And of course the sting in then tail as we had to ascend about 350 metres accross the side of Am Meallan to get back to Gles Affric.

Cracking photos, especially from the summit of Carn Eige looking over Loch Mullardoch and over to Fhionnlaidh. I still have these two to return to after the weather turned to sh*t and I spent a couple of hours hunkered in the Mam Sodhail shelter cairn waiting in vain for it to improve.

I'm planning to cycle in to Strawberry Cottage and walk up this route at the weekend - looks far less boggy than the WH route. Hopefully the weather will be kind enough to get all 3. I'm staying at Cannich campsite so not to far to travel

With a tweak. I'd cut under the west side of Carn Eighe after Mam Sodhail on a vague path (water opportunity on sone tiny streams) and then do Beinn Fhionnlaidh (water just to the right before the uphill bit at an obvious spring) and then go up Carn Eighe on the way back
