Carn Liath and Carn na Moine, by Glen Ey

Probably my last hill walk of 2020. Didn't want a battle with the forecast morning wind so delayed my start a bit and chose a route that I hoped would provide a bit of shelter for the ascent and see me at the first summit in time for any wind to die down. That plan worked fine but it was more cloudy than expected. It did clear enough though for some views of the surroundings.
I was pleased that I managed the walk fairly easily; managing to maintain some basic level of fitness.
There's a track almost all the way to the top.
Not very inspiring weather but not too bad either.
Lots of wee waterfalls along the way.
There's the track ahead. I 'd thought I might feel a bit dispirited when I caught sight of how far I had left to go but I was actually feeling quite energised as it had been very easy to get to this half way point.
Watching from above. I briefly considered cutting off the track and up the hill but the forecast was for wind in the morning so I stuck with the track.
Morrone to the east.
After all the relative dullness of the ascent this felt like quite a dramatic view of Beinn a' Ghlo.
Track left behind but a good path takes over.
View west.
Wilderness.
View north.
View north-east.
And east to Morven.
View south.
Morven again.
It's a pleasant, mossy ridge between Carn Liath and Carn na Moine.
Looking back at Carn Liath.
Glen Ey.
Not much of a view into Glen Dee.
The end of the ridge yields a good view along the river Dee.
The last part of the descent was over iced up atv track so not so pleasant but over quickly enough.
