A fairly direct route to the top of Sgor Gaoith.

It seemed to be spring here during most of last week. Managed to get a few drills dug out for the vegetable plantings...there was evidence of the muirburn taking place on the hills....I even heard the sound of a lapwing.... the curlews and the oystercachers won't be far behind. The overnight frosts came back at the weekend so the crampons came out on Sunday. A few ski runs on Tuesday on a nice surface. Yesterday a fine wee leg stretcher on the Sgorans. Spent a bit of time getting to terms with the three paths that lead into the west facing Sgor Gaoith slopes. I guess that most folks travel in on the recently made-up and gravelled lower path that comes out of the 'red burn' track but there is a higher path that takes a walker directly into the area below the slope leading directly to the Gaoith top. I have used this upper path to descend to the allt ruadh in the past but it just ends rather abruptly at NN880998....easy little diagonal to reach the lower path on untrampled heather passing over a third path with seems to end well above the lower one in coire na cloiche
Multiple paths are not uncommon in this area, it seems, there are two above Achlean heading up to the moine mor but at least they do join up Now if we could get folks heading up to the aforemetioned grid ref....hope I have got it right we might even get a linking path between lower and upper:D
