With lovely new snow on the ground and a cracking forecast we decided to catch a sunrise from on high. Under Tier 4 we needed a hill accessible from home, so out the backdoor we headed for two subsidiary summits of Blairedenon and Coalsnaur in the Ochils. There is easy parking at the Sherrifmuir Monument if you need it.
Eldest brough a bike along. Every experience is a learning opportunity.

We had planned a further walk, however a hidden pond caught my wife out who plunged up to her thigh in ice cold water on the summit of Little Hunt Hill. Despite a swift change of socks, we decided that wet boots and trousers for a longer day, in very cold conditions and in deep snow, was not a wise move. Indeed, by the time we got home she was properly cold and it was a wise choice. Lemons lining up and all that….
Little Hunt Hill is the low peak on the right of the valley with woodland below. Blairdenon the highest hill in the background – this had been our planned horseshoe.
