Excited for our first trip to Glencoe! Travelled down on Saturday morning - intending to visit the lost valley, only to be met by steady rain and low cloud. We took a quick walk to the signal rock, drove down Glen Etive and got our bearings for parking next day. Then over to Kinlochleven where we took a walk through the woods, past the Grey Mares tail waterfall to reach the start of the walk to Binean Mor.
We had booked in to the Lodge on the Loch hotel at Ballachulish. Bit of a shame to have covid restrictions affecting the bar, but the room was very nice - great loch view and lovely big bath!
Breakfast early and off to Glencoe by 8am for a 20 minute drive - and the car park was heaving! We were lucky to squeeze in - lesson to be learned we said, only to repeat the error on our next two trips!
Set off along the excellent path as part of a procession! We thought Torridon was busy, but this was bonkers - we did get familiar with everyone as we overtook one another.
At the Bealach it was a bit misty - most folk were turning left to Stob Coire Reainach - so we turned right to Stob Dubh. This was a great walk, not terribly steep, and with cloud gradually clearing along the way - unfortunately it didn't really clear enough for us to get clear views west long Glen Etive until we were on our way down slippery rocks toward the bealach again
By the time we got down the weather was lovely and the climb up to stob dubh was steep and hot! But oh my. it was worth it - super views
We had a wee lounge in the sun then made our way down the path very quickly indeed and back to the car.
