We were looking for a cycle but also missing the hills - I was struggling with another Long-Covid bad spell which meant hills were a bit off-limits. We headed up the hill (slowly) and made our way to Dunmaglass Farm - we took the windfarm track in to save a little bit of distance, and were surprised that the track seemed so long; we had walked in during the summer to climb Creag a' Chliabhain and found it easier
Image

It was quite windy as we crossed the bridge, and as the track started to climb we decided to abandon the bikes and continue on foot, but not before we'd had a break for some lunch...

...under the watchful eye of a pheasant!

We continued along the track on foot - we could see down Cona Glen to Creag a' Chliabhain, a heathery nightmare

The track climbed steadily ahead

As we came around the corner we could see a lot of steep sided gorges

The track got steeper and it was hard work, even taking it easy. Eventually we needed to leave it - we spotted an ATV track leading off left which would make some of the ascent easier, before finding some animal tracks to take us higher

It was steep, but at least we knew it should be short. Looking back we could see how far we had come

Some pretty light on Beinn Dubhcharaidh which my crappy phone camera isn't really doing justice to!

Almost there....

Beinn Bhuide - another blob on the edge of the plateau that Malky suggested might be worth a visit sometime
Image

As we reached the summit we could see back towards Inverness - Loch Duntelchaig is just visible

Malky looking his normal happy self...

It wasn't really a day for hanging around, and we still had to cycle home! We headed back the same way - Malky had damp feet but mine were fine
Image

Back at the bikes, we headed out past the house and headed home what we thought was the shortest way. It was dark before we got back, but only just - the lights of Inverness twinkling in the gloom as we headed down the last hill to the house

Cycling: 53.92km, 472m ascent, 3 hours 21 minutes
