Despite lockdown, i managed to find a hill that i had not been on before.
Parked in Old Kilpatrick and was soon walking along the track leading to Loch Humphrey, with the views of the Clyde opening up.
- Looking back to Erskine Bridge and Glasgow
Unfortunately, as the track turned north, I moved into the cloud, but it wasn't long before I reached Loch Humphrey, which felt quite eerie! It was hard to believe that I was only a few miles from Glasgow.
I continued on the now muddy track towards Duncolm, although i broke off to Fynloch Hill. Unfortunately, I didn't see the path leading to the top, so had to contend with some new plantings on the way. However, it wasn't long before I was back on the path, heading towards Middle Duncolm, just as the mist started to rise.
From there, it was only a short up and down to Duncolm.
- Kilmannan Res from Duncolm
On the return, I followed the path below the tops and was soon back at Loch Humphrey, from where I could pick up a path leading the the Slacks.
- Looking back to Duncolm from the Slacks
There was a clear path down to the grassy track that took me back to the Loch Humphrey road and from there I was soon back at the car.
- Looking down to the Erskine Bridge on the descent.
A very enjoyable day in an area I wish I had discovered long ago.
