A dull, cloudy and driech day, but at least I was out!

Parked up around 9am and cut straight up to the track leading to the Spout of Ballochleam, which gave very easy access to the moor. I followed the grassy track toward Carleatheran, but in the thick mist managed to lose it close to the summit, so had to rely on a bearing. The top was bitterly cold and after a quick drink from the flask, I was on my way again. I tried to pick up the footpath marked on the map, but this is now an access track to the wind farm. Although it gave easy walking, it was confusing when other tracks suddenly appeared - no doubt more confusing due to the mist! Eventually, I gave up and headed direct to the Spout again, where I picked up the track leading past the shooting butts.

I followed this as best I could, but eventually had to take a direct line to another very cold top. The trig is made from local stone, but in the frost it was looking very tatty and sorry for itself!

It was disappointing that the visibility was so poor as I had been looking forward to what should be a lovely view.

Undeterred, I retraced my steps to the Spout, then back down the track to the car, arriving back at 3.30pm.

Felt tired as the sections off piste were boggy and energy draining. However, a pleasant day's walking.
