I first climbed Ben Starav back in April; the mission then was photography... It's a long hard slug up the shoulder of Ben Starav; and starting from sea level; you don't get any help!! Photographically I prefer side lighting, and look for locations that will be side lit at either dawn or dusk when the colours are at their richest. There is rarely anyone in the hills at these times, and when I was here for this picture, Whiskey and I had the mountain to ourselves...
But anyway, that was then; this is now, and I'm here today for the circuit of three munros deep in Glen Etive. It's cloudy, but the forecast had promised to clear, so we set off early to get the hard work done early. Around two thirds of the way up Ben Starav, Whiskey pauses for breath; and sits seemingly just atching the clouds and absorbing the view...
