The walk begins just before the burn at Achvraie where you may be able to park but a better bet is to stop just by the road junction about half a mile further on. Being a circular, either direction is good and you may be swayed by the wind direction on the day. Views are stunning in either direction so you'll have to remember to stop and turn around which ever way you head. We decided to head down hill to start with and head for the old crofting community of Achduart first.

Ahead of you are views of the Summer Isles and, further afield, on a good day the impressive An Teallach massif gives a tempting glimpse of what you can do with more time to spare. Passing a few isolated houses you will reach the "Old School House" of Achduart, hidden behind a wall of trees, at the end of the road. There are signposts to direct you on the way to Culnacraig up a narrow path and through a couple of gates. There's an information board to let you know about the various wildlife you may see on the way and directions on a longer route around the base of Ben Mor Coigach to the village of Blughasary. This is a much more arduous path than the one you will be following and is known as "taking the rock" - something the local postmen had to do twice a week in the 1860s to deliver the mail to the isolated crofting communities on route.

Ahead of you and to the right the bulk of Ben Mor Coigach is clear while, turning around, the islands that dot the sea give a totally different yet equally impressive view. Often you will also see deer on the hillsides, curious but wary and unlikely to come too close. After about a mile a small footbridge takes you over some small but lovely waterfalls at the entrance to the community at Culnacraig.

Over the bridge you will also find the crossroads and the path to Blughasary. On another day with more time and two cars to leave at either end, this would make for a lovely walk through virtually untravelled country but, on this route, you head left through the farm buildings and back on to the tarmacced road.

Up the hill and over the brow you are rewarded once more with fantastic views of the Summer Isles as you head back down to the car. Fairly sparsely visited you will have completed a short, but delightful walk with staggering scenery and, no doubt, a desire to go further on some of the sights you'll have glimpsed on the way.
