Thought this visit to Den Wood was going to be a very short stretch of the legs on my wife's birthday, thinking we'd only make it as far as the boggy section. Turns out the paths have been improved so we were able to extend the walk.
Improved access has also made it a busier place, though that is based on a sample of three visits in total I think. Nevertheless we got the woods to ourselves for the first half of the walk and relatively un-muddy shoes though my wife still did complain about what little mud there was but then she changed her mind and decided it wasn't so bad after all.
Anyway, a fine short walk with good views.

Gate has been removed which would seem to be a sensible thing to do.

There are three routes marked on the information board.

Also new.

Also new but with the predecessor stepping stones visible to the left. Must be part of the general access improvements that are or were going on.

Now we're onto the small rise called Hawkhillock view.

Hazy view of Tap o' Noth.

Fairly sure this wasn't here four years ago.
