I noticed that there were 3 walks on this side of Loch Awe on the walkhighlands website, so checked with most excellent 8 year old daughter if she was game for 3 walks in a day, and she was! Faster than me on the uphills, too...

This was a cracking wee walk. It starts at the Cruachan forestry car park (I was looking for a High Trees sign but luckily had pulled in to check where we were). You can't go wrong if you stick to the directions and blue markers (good job, really, as the paths aren't all indicated on my 1:25,000 map).

The stroll along the lochside was pleasant enough, but the part of the walk that went past the stream gorge at MacKenzie's grove was pretty stunning. High trees indeed!

High points from daughter: the steep bits weren't too steep and she liked the dangerous drops by the gorge.
