It's great to be back!

For those that were unaware, I sadly had to take a break from hiking due to an knee injury. However, the fiancée and I decided it was time to get out again and enjoy the sunshine and exercise.

I've had my eye on this little gem for quite a while, so it was a great return to the outdoor world. A great hill on a great day.

It was a bit of a journey for us to get there, just over an hour drive. The one thing I didn't know about the hill was the very narrow road up to the car pack - wide enough for one with no passing places.

Upon arrival, the well maintained car park was just about full. So clearly, we weren't alone in thinking this hill was a great idea with the covid restrictions easing. That said, we managed to find a space and get ourselves together to begin.

The first stretch for far steeper than we anticipated! It only lasts around 500m, but enough to make us catch our breath at the end before taking the left after the gate.

Along the next length, there was a little area that was particularly boggy, but is no match for the hiking boots. We don't mind wandering through the rough stuff, but we'd prefer to avoid it if we can. Luckily, on the way back, we found an alternative route.

I will praise the people for the well laid out path and the clear signage to keep everyone on the track.

At the bottom, looking up, it seems like quite a mighty climb. However, once we started going, progress was quickly made and we reached the summit in around 40 minutes. One thing we definitely didn't expect was a small group at the summit paragliding. From the bottom, we thought it was a drone, but once nearing the top, one of the 'drones' shouted "Good Morning"

All in all, what a great hill this is. The views are stunning from the top, it's not too strenuous or long. On a beautiful day like we had, I couldn't have asked for a better day to return to the hiking world!
