Clouds and rain returned today, although it was actually drier than forecasted. Another 7am start - arrived at Rowardenon car park just after 8 and we found spaces - goes to show what a bit of drizzle will to to curb the ardour of the casual hillwalker. Everyone at the car park was hading up the standard route - we took the Ptarmigan path where we met no-one til we were nearly at the top. Clag sat around 500m so the walk today was more about the being there than the views.

A band of snow covered the path at around 800m, bringing back memories of our last trip up here when we - however unwillingly- guided two lads wearing Doc Martens to the icy top in full winter conditions. Nothing as serious today though. Reached the summit where there were a few other folk about, then retreated back down the path a little to have lunch out of the wind. Three guys came down, utterly surprised to find us sitting there. One of them told us that he'd previously come up in January wearing skinny jeans and trainers in a whiteout with 2 feet of snow. He didn't make the summit that time

Returned the same way, to keep the quiet rather than face the throngs. As we descended out of the Clag, all we could hear was the roar of jet-skis on the Loch. I entertained the idea of suggesting a new sport of picking off these noisy onanists with high powered rifles from the shore - as long as the rifles were fitted with silencers, naturally

Hipflask nothing to do with us!
