This is a great hill!
As we started, a cuckoo was calling in the nearby trees; spring is here at last. The temperature reached 19 degrees whilst we were out - a great feeling to be out on the hills and being warm.
We parked in the lay-by near the bridge just up from Tornapress, as the SMC guidebook suggests and walked along the stalkers path for a couple of kilometres until we reached a bridge.

Here we turned off and headed up the side of the burn, which we crossed to reach Lochan Coire na Pointe. This is a glorious spot complete with a sandy beach. It would be great to go there one summer day just for a picnic and a dip in the loch. As we didn't want to scramble up Coire na Pointe, nor did we fancy tackling going up the grassy banks, we headed a little further on and went up Coire an Fhamar. This was steep up a mixture of grass and crags. However after a short steep section, there was almost always a ledge. Finally we got to the flat top which was covered in springy moss. Views for 360 degrees; Skye and Rhum were clearly visible. From here it was an easy walk to the summit cairn for lunch.

The walk down along the southern spur of the hill was glorious. The SMC guide doesn't do this route justice. Please don't be put off by this route as it's great. As soon as we saw our parked car, we headed straight towards it. It was one of those descents when you just didn't think you were getting any closer and then all of a sudden you've finished the walk. Back at the car, the cuckoo was still calling!
