Walkhighlands

Another wee hill for the girls yesterday, we had some time to spare before Moss' physio appointment and this hill looked ideal! We parked in a wide space opposite a passing space just at the point where the road started to go downhill. Walking downhill a short distance we turned left onto a forestry track and followed this up through the woods to a wide track for the turbines. We headed up the track towards the turbines ignoring a track to the left continuing uphill. Just before a bend in the track we took a narrower path on the left which looked like it was going in the right direction going round the old quarries to reach a fence. Bit of a problem here, the fence is VERY secure with points where dogs could get under well blocked however we did eventually find a spot where the dogs could squeeze under and headed along towards the lumps and bumps surrounding the summit spotting the trig point, which already had an occupant. We went to go around them but another sheep jumped out from the quarries and the ewe and lamb headed away with them. From the trig point we headed back down to the fence where the dogs could get under and headed round to descend by the main track.

Fence aside, nice easy walk though this route looks (legally - there was a sign) well used by bikers so possibly not one for the weekend.

A good wee hill. Took me three goes to get to the trig point though. Haven't been up this way so might try it some time to make a loop; I've previously parked at / started from the old church at Kirkton of Culsalmond.
