The weather was grey but dry and I fancied a short morning's stroll so I had a quick jaunt down to Largs to do The Knock. I parked in a large lay-by on the coastal road just before the minor road signed St Phillans. I walked up this road to a junction by a bridge where a good track led into the woods. I really enjoyed this part of the walk: lots of beautiful trees lining a deep ravine on the left with glimpses of The Knock in the distance.

Once through 2 kissing gates, I was out on the more open moorland, still on a path but pretty boggy now. The route to The Knock cuts back on itself and is well signed. I just followed this path all the way to the summit trig where I stopped for a while to enjoy the views over Largs, Cumbrae and Bute. Not a bad reward for so little effort.
