A wee break as soon as we were allowed to travel, staying at the Boat Inn in Aboyne. A chilly week for the end of APril, but that didn't stop us. As we set off from SPittal of Loch Muick car park it started snowing. We headed along Loch Muick past the boathouse on the North side, and eventually past the granite lodge - we hid under the trees here from a hail storm. Up the end of the loch to the Dubh loch and the impressive cliffs there, occasionally seeing the sun between the snow showers. Then up to the plateau to Cairn Bannoch - the last but tricky in the snow. It was clear enough on top to see where we were going, but chilly. We didn;t see anyone else until we headed over to Broad Cairn - another couple ploughing threw the snow gave us a wave. From Broad Cairn we headed down back to the loch and the long walk back tot he Spittal. A long day but good day out in the hills.
