A frustratingly long drive up die to a slow-moving lorry that would not pull in to allow passing. However, I arrived at the boundary of the NP just before 9.

The initial walk down the WHW to Auch was very pleasant, although it did mean there would be an uphill finish to the day.

Once I turned up into Auch glen, I left the crowds and had solitude for most of the day.

The recent dry weather meant that the various fords over the river were fine, although I was glad of my gaiters to keep my feet dry. It was disappointing that Duncan Ban McIntyre's house is now just a barn!

At the watershed, I left the track for the sustained pull up to the summit. Whilst it was a slog, the underfoot conditions are good. Unfortunately, I was just in the cloud at the top.

I made my way to Beinn a'Chuirn and rather than head back to the bealach as suggested, I took a direct line back to the glen. This probably wasn't the smartest of moves as the descent was unremittingly steep.

However, once I gained the excellent track, I could make good progress back to Auch and from there I had the anticipated uphill back to the car, arriving about 4pm after a very enjoyable walk.
