NB. My 20+ year old GPS had a hissy fit on the ridge, so the GPX file may no be entirely accurate.
I had climbed Gairich last year, with hope in my head of a glorious clear sunny day and stunning views of towards the wilderness around. However I was trolled by my arch nemesis MWIS and a forecast of good visibility turned out to be 'can barely see my hand in front of my face' clag. This was the day I had hoped for last year, sunny and clear enough to enjoy the views, though some summer haze obscured the more distant peaks
I had planned to travel in an anti-clockwise direction, as suggested by WH and every major guide book. After a last minute revision (read: started walk half asleep, climbed the wrong path and was already at 300m by time realized mistake) I opted for the opposite direction. To be honest it's all academic, this would be a fantastic walk if you did it on your hands. Great views of iconic peaks in all direction, dark forbidding looking lochs, dramatic cliffs...it ticks all the boxes.
I erred again navigationally slighly on my descent, blindly following the wrong path, I intersected a pylon road at a small dam, this mean re-joining the road about half a km further from the car, but at the end of the day it was neither here nor there.
The Small dam at top of pylon road.
