Every now and then a walk surprises you; one you're expecting to be awesome disappoints, or in this case one you haven't been overly excited about turns into a hidden delight, as was the case for me with Mount Keen...

This will be a brief report (sorry) - curry and beer beckons, and I'm hungry!! But I'm guessing most people like the pictures more than the words...

Walking down Glen Esk by the River is truly beautiful; this place must look stunning in the summer when the heather is flowering. I fell in love with the place instantly...

The Queens Well soon appears with a gorgeous backdrop

This cottage is available for rent; if tranquility and peace and quiet is your thing then this could work...

Another panoramic from near the cottage showing the path going to the right of the hill just right of centre

The path steepens up the valley...

...but before you know it the top is in sight

The summit touching distance away now in just under two hours...

I sat up here for around 15 minutes just absorbing the view; it truly was stunning, and I thought there can't be too many days when you'll not see a soul from start to finish on htis walk; especially with weather like this.

I loved it :)

Even the military put on a dog fight just for me ;)

Nice report Andrew. Weather looks tremendous. My first walk report on WH was Mount keen. Unusual for there to be no walkers around on such a nice day. :D
