Walkhighlands

My plan had been to drive down to this windfarm( not yet on OS maps) just east of Dalmellinton and try out my new boots again on a circuit of Tumps, including the strangely named Big Hill of the Baing. However, when I woke I didn't feel too good but decided to head off anyway, hoping I would improve once walking out in the fresh air. I parked at the entrance to the windfarm on the B741 road and started off up the gravel road. I still felt pretty poorly, unfortunately. Soon, though, I was on the top of Turgeny, my first objective, looking over to Dersalloch Hill. Down some rough stuff, I got back on the road and headed over but by now I was feeling decidedly ropey (to use the precise medical terminology). I left the road and headed up the grassy slopes of the hill and soon was standing on the top looking over at The Big Hill of the Baing. I sat on a boulder for a while planning my next move. I decided to carry on so I came off the top and headed for a met mast where I could see a dyke heading in the direction I wanted to go - down towards Baing Loch. However, after a few hundred metres heading down beside the wall, I knew I was wasting my time - my legs were turning to jelly and my stomach was churning. Nothing else to do but head back to the car, this time on the roads only, avoiding any hills. After a slow, careful drive home it was off to bed for me for the afternoon. Sometimes things go well .... and sometimes they don't.
