Saw on Facebook that the section of the coastal path from Johnshaven to Tangleha has been repaired so decided to head along for a coastal walk. Parked up at The Squarie in Johnshaven and headed down to the harbour walking along the seafront and following the sign for The Parkie round to rejoin a street and headed along the road becoming a track. The route stays above the shoreline, the path becoming overgrown in places but there were several people out cutting back the vegetation. The new path that goes around the red sandstone cliffs is well-made. Along the route there are lime kilns, an ice house and a WWII lookout bunker. Upon reaching Tangleha we continued to follow the coastal path along a grassy track that skirted the edge of a farm field with views across to St Cyrus beach. At a house the path at the edge of the cliff looked to be blocked off so we continued around the edge of the farm field (did notice a few other footprints too so not the only ones) to reach the road and followed that back down to Tangleha. On the way down we spotted dolphins in the distance and they were in sight for most of the return walk (which was the same way) as they were heading north as well!
