The hottest day of the year for the drive up to Kingshouse.
Although we were off quite early, it was still pretty hot as we made our way into the valley, then up the unremitting slopes to the ridge.
- The walk in
- Heading up the path with Bidean coming into view
Once there, we decided on Stob Coire Raineach first and it seemed to take an eternity to cover the short distance to the cairn. However, the view at the top was magnificent - Rannoch Moor, The Ben, the Mamores, Grey Corries, Ardgour, Glencoe and the Big Buchaille.
- Bidean from Stob Coire Raineach
- Blackwater from Stob Coire Raineach
- The Ben from Stob Coire Raineach
- The ridge
After a rest and some foof, we retraced our steps to the col and the climb up to Stob Dubh wasn't quite as hard going. At the cairn we walked the short distance south to get the uninterupted view of Loch Etive.
- Bidean from Stob Dubh
- Glen Etive from Stob Dubh
- The big Buchaille
It was a straightforward walk back to the car, stopping on the way to refill our water bottles with ice-cold water from the burn.
