Not far from the boat house is this interesting promontory.
It is a sparkling afternoon.
Jill happy with the walk selection. So far.
Boat house of fame.
We decided to stick close to the shore for our circuit but the path deteriorated after a while leaving us with the options of turning back or aiming for where we thought the better path would be. Serendipity to the rescue as I had just invested in my first smart phone so was able to check the WH route and there we were in the guise of a red circle moving about near the blue lifeline. The terrain between didn't look that great but we bashed our way through and within fifteen minutes were back on (a decent) track.
Somewhere.
When obviously lost thoughts that cross my mind are newspaper headlines such as "missing couple found half a mile from main road", "wife divorces husband after walk mishap" etc. so there is plenty of motivation to quickly solve the problem. I wouldn't actually be against retracing steps but for the matter of pride and it didn't seem beyond us to go for the shorter, cross-country solution.
After the melodrama of our short detour from the shore we pick up the proper path and are soon headed back to the shoreside.
Small and substantial.
Zoom to boathouse.
I think this is us heading off in the wrong direction again but we double back to an awkward stile and bundle our way over.
Hooray! Back on track.
Al in all, a pleasant walk even taking account of our mistakes.
