As a newbie this was one of my first munro in the warm weather, and I learned some new things about midges!

Set off from the Succouth car park feeling slightly iffy so the portaloos were a welcome surprise, then along the clearly marked trail zig zagging up the hill. After 30 minutes came to the forestry track and confused there was no option to go straight ahead, but 50m to the left seemed neatly right. After reaching the massive rocks where climbers used to sleep apparently (1hr on) I checked my map and realised I'd missed the turn for Beinn Narnain and was on the path to the Cobbler & Beinn Ime.

Stopped for a chocolate bar and some water and was immediately enveloped in a cloud of tiny velociraptors so had to unleash the power of 'Smidge' which was very good. Walked on towards Beinn Ime and found a familiar grassy slope from the walking guide. The path between the hills was silent and oppressive and I sweated like a racehorse for another hour, but the top was lovely a cool though the clouds drifted in and erased an amazing view of the Rest and Be Thankful.

After a brief lunch stop I belted down the hill with full intent of climbing Beinn Narnain on the way back, but the view from the bottom and my shaky legs caused me to abandon the plan and head back on the original path. 5hrs back to the car is the limit of my current ability, next time!

Last thing I learned was that Loch Lomond is really busy in summer, got stuck in a 5mile jam on the way home.

Still completely worth it :D
