With a rainy day forecast pretty much all across the country, we decided to go for another section of the Fife Coastal Path. Having done Leven to Elie we figured we'll do Leven to Kirkcaldy at some point, which would leave us half of a WH section between Burntisland and Kirkcaldy... so instead, we just tagged that on.
A bit out of practice with long distance walking though, especially on harder ground/tarmac, so we left the North Queensferry loop for another time. This was tough going for us both and I ended up with a couple of blisters
I wore the same shoes for Mullardoch a year ago - similar distance and feet were absolutely fine
Anyway, aside from a brief drizzle, we stayed dry all day, just getting the rain on the drive home again.
- Kirkcaldy esplanade, having bussed from Ferrytoll park & ride
- Edinburgh in the distance (Arthurs Seat to the Pentlands on the horizon)
- Busy on Kinghorn beach
- The route goes up the hill at the end of the bay, but we stayed low to walk along the shore instead
- Approaching Burntisland (stopping there for lunch) but running out of shore to walk on, so we took the escape tunnel up ahead, back onto the roadside. Stuck with the FCP marked route from there.
- Approaching Silversands (surprised it wasn't very busy); didn't pass Black Sands as the bridge is out and there's a detour up round the castle instead
- Stopped to check out St Bridget's Kirk
- On Downing Point, Dalgety Bay - relieved we didn't have too far to go now :D
- Views all around
- Almost there; Inverkeithing is just around the next bend
- Our stats, surprisingly different for a non windy day; recording the average since they should have been the same
