Beinn Fhada (or Ben Attow) 1032m / 3386'

This, as expected proved to be a big day, starting virtually at sea level and having a long walk in, it's described as a "muscular" hill and so it proved.

We were again afflicted with low cloud and mist, with only brief, occassional breaks (when we did what we could with our cameras!) coupled with intermittent showers. A long damp day.

The route we took was straight forward enough, pretty much as described in Steve Kew's Cicerone guide, except that we opted out of also doing A' Ghlas-bheinne at a very early stage and followed the good footpath up Glean Choinneachain before doubling back across the face of Meall a' Bhealaich in order to gain the upper corrie. We then zigzagged up onto Beinne Fhada's north ridge and then around to the summit.

We returned, as closely as possible, by the same route that we had taken on the way up. It's a good walk. long, with a remote feeling about it, but, in the main, with a good footpath all the way up as far as Beinne Fhada's north ridge.
A good day.

Sat Nav.: Length: 15.1 miles / 24 km Ascent: +1038m -3405'
O/S Mapping: Length: 12.3 miles / 19.8 km Ascent: +1335m -1336m Naismith: 6h 12m

Note: Whilst the mapping suggests much more height gain and loss, and a much shorter distance, the path zig zags a great deal, but doesn't really lose a great deal of height (even if it feels like it when you're tired.) I'd suggest that my GPS recording is much more likely to more accurately indicate height and distance than my map "plotting!"
It certainly felt like a big walk when we were doing it!
