Used the lay by up the hill from the Wind Farm (towards Crask) sit so that's an extra 0.5km each way and some metres to the ascent which partly explains the difference but if you're using Naismith or similarly trying to plan your time, suggest using this data.
Ascent - 1149m
Indeed you start at just below 200m but there is up and down after the 544m top and also on the contour path along the shoulder. Plus some more just before the steep slog up at the end (c230m ascent for that last piece).

Distance - my Suunto actually measured this at just under 17km but it does tend to read a little bit longer than Walkhighlands. Maybe because I have it set to measure very frequently which means it picks up zigs and zags etc.

How did we manage in 4hours ? we like jogging off - which we did stop start, also gets the boggiest section at the bottom !

Wind Farm staff very cranky, embarrassing for a highland welcome, keep away. Someone on one of the FB pages reckons one of the guys there lets tyres down !

Was up and and hoping to do this mountain earlier this year but had to give it a miss as it was completely covered in cloud and all around nice and clear  . It must have been the same security chap at the entrance to the wind farm constuction site i met at 06-15 in the morning with his dour response telling me i could not park there. Probably lucky i was not much earlier after what you have said.

I think you maybe ought to be a bit more suspicious of your GPS readings!

Just for a bit of balance, the person we spoke to at the wind farm was perfectly polite when we did Ben Klibreck at the end of May. It was clear to us that we weren't going to be able to park there, but he was happy to point us in the direction of the other layby a little further up the hill. (That's not to discount what happened to anyone else though!)

I've got a Suunto Ambit 3 Peak and it's accurate to 1m -3m on the tops we have done recently. I agree it looks a long way off and had same convo with my son (who was adamant that munro book says 750m ascent). That said, I reckon the following
c200m starting height excludes 50m or so from new layby so add 50m for that
962-200 = 762
the 542m first wee top Cnoc Sgriodan goes down about 50m (x 2 for both directions)
the contour path has at least 50m up and down (x2 for both directions)
so I can get to 1000m on that basis, I wonder if the ascent on walkhighlands is based on the old/direct route ?

the sign says "reverse parking only" just beside the portakabin :) there was a different guy on duty when we were coming off the hill, maybe depends who is on duty = the big sign says "we are considerate contractors"
the guy we encountered was 180 degree opposite of polite, I have a video of much of the conversation with him and he physically barged into me as well as shouting/swearing an threatening me in very colourful language
my amusing recollection, because you do have to laugh, was when I asked him which authority he was acting under - answer "site entrance authority", my son nearly wet himself :)

The previous (2006) SMC Munros guide says 790m, but that is for a more direct route from further N along the road, which avoids both Cnoc Sgriodan and the traverse path.
