Having planned a long weekend near Perth was having a look at some easy options for a family walk that would suit our 10 year old daughter......who's never overly keen, but we keep trying!
So thought was head up to Glenshee taking advantage of the high start and doing Carn Aosda, The Cairnwell and then maybe grab Carn A Gheoidh also. Keeping an eye on the weather, a couple of days before hand there was a bit of snow forecast and sure enough checking the ski centre webcam there it was, but nothing major and the forecast for the Friday was looking favourable.
With no major time pressures it was a leisurely start off up to the main car park at Glenshee. Weather was glorious with beautiful sunshine and blue skies. There were some small pockets of snow, but nothing major and the paths up were clearly visible. So off we headed up Carn Aosda first. As most reports note, with all the tows it's not the prettiest, but easily navigable. Stopped briefly to admire the view over the lochan before moving on. Once we were on the top we were treated to amazing views in all directions........albeit we didn't hang around too long given the freezing wind blowing in. Difference in temperatures was massive compared to the sheltered walk up!
Dropped back down to the info board next to the lochan before picking up the path to The Cairnwell and following the shoulder to the top where we sheltered at the cairn amongst the masts out of the wind and enjoyed some lunch. By now the youngest was adamant there wasn't going to be a third top so we set off back down to the cafe for the promised cake and hot chocolate!

A fairly short day out, but in the sunshine very enjoyable!
