Boat Glorious from Girvan Harbour at 1pm. The boat was full with 12 people plus two crew. Very calm sea. £35 return.
We saw some porpoises on the way over. The journey across is just over an hour. When we arrived we were told we had an hour on the island. That allowed us to walk up to the castle (20mins), have our lunch and walk back down to the boat. We had initially hoped to climb to the top but it was so hot and steep that would have been impossible in an hour - which was fine!
Back on board, Glorious sailed round the island to view the thousands of birds which call Ailsa their home.
Great afternoon out and would highly recommend.
NOTE. The boat only sails in good calm weather. This was our 4th attempt to sail over - the other three cancelled due to windy weather. You need to check with skipper before you travel to Girvan to avoid a wasted journey.
