After a wash at the railway station in auchnasheen I drove to a lay-by just past Gerrys and parked for the night. In the morning I put the car in the wee forest car park and set off for another long walk in. Anyone who's done this will know its actually a good scenic walk in.
- The impressive looking Corbett Sgùrr nan Ceannaichean
- Say no more
A wee cairn marks the point to get off the track by the end of the trees on your left and the buildings in front.
Pick anywhere really to get off the track, you're going steeply up to to the ridgeline by Fuar toll Beag no matter what. One steep gorge en- route which I didn't envisage, but down and up , and plodded slowly upwards,
- Heading upwards
where it got a but rockier towards the top. It finally eased off at about 850m and then it was a pleasant walk over Carn nam Flachan .
Great view down the corrie by Creag toll a choin down to loch monar.
On up to the main summit cairn , flat and featureless and I wasn't hanging around too much as rain was forecast to cone in by about 3.
Headed down and remembered the bit about the wee path, sure enough one cane into view going to the right of a gorge.
- You can just make out the path on the right of this gorge. I steered clear and went left of it and crossed the burn
Steered clear of the path and went left over the wee burn, with the waterfall and impressive corrie behind me.
The liodge is in view and tried to contour round rather than head towards it. If the ground was any wetter though it may be better heading for it sooner and getting on the track.
- Try and hit the track somewhere close to the woods- easier said than done
Got back on the track between the trees and the Lodge and started the long but enjoyable walk back.
Sure enough a bit if drizzle came on - and the Waterproof went on.
Thankfully it didn't cone on fully until I was back.
Decent hill this one , featureless on top but the steep pathless pull up to the "ridge", the corries, waterfall, and decent walk in made up for that.
Glad it's out the way though
Cheers
