My friend Ian, who wouldn't consider himself a hillwalker (yet) but enjoys a walk, had a day off and fancied an outing - but not too much travelling. So, a quick jaunt over the Erskine bridge to find a parking place on Cochno Road and off we went. We strolled up the track past Wester Cochno farm to reach Greenside reservoir. Once over the dam, we climbed the good path on The Slacks to reach the summit trig in good time. I hadn't fully planned the walk because I wanted to see what Ian felt like doing, so we looked at the map and looked at the view and he decided that he wanted to walk over to Duncolm - which was fine by me.
- Looking over to the 3 Duncolm Hills
We descended on a good path to Loch Humphrey and picked up a road which led round the loch to a really solid style over a high fence. Over this, we followed another clear path round the west side of Little Duncolm and then over Middle Duncolm down into a dip. We paused here as it was sheltered and had a bite to eat and some tea before heading up the final ascent to the trig atop Duncolm where we enjoyed the views back from whence we had come and the surprising sense of remoteness so close to the city.

All that remained was the walk back to the car following the same route. We both enjoyed the day and maybe we'll have another one soon.
