I first did this walk in August 2012, but it was completely in cloud, so I thought I'd give it a second go 9 years later with some different company.
I don't recall the start of the walk beginning in such an ugly car park, but this is quickly left behind. Next begins a very long but surprisingly easy feeling (for Britain's second highest peak) ascent up to the top of Bienn Macdui, which it turns out is still covered in cloud!
Following this we then dropped down beneath the cloud and got a glimpse of sunlight for 5 minutes. Suncream on, we ascended back into the cloud to tackle Cairngorm, had a little look at the weather station to figure out how it opens, waited 30 minutes to see it open - only for it to not, then headed home.
All in all a lovely day out.
