This was my first trip to Speyside, spending a couple of days with my son near Dufftown - a pleasant, quiet place with a crazy number of distilleries for those who are keen on a dram.

The first morning started with a thick blanket of fog over the whole area, but we decided to go out anyway, loading up my son's future mother-in-law's dogs Friaoch and Flo into the car and driving the short distance to the Ben Aigan forestry car park. It's as pretty simple walk, but enjoyable - especially if you have a couple of enthusiastic dogs along with you.

Setting off along the forestry track we were too busy discussing the Wolverhampton Wanderers midfield to concentrate on the route properly so missed the arrow pointing to the firebreak shortcut up the hill. Doubling back, we then squelched up the muddy path before coming out at a point where a relatively new forestry road splits away from an older track.

Taking the older road, we found our way through the murk, coming out of the trees and then around and finally up the hill, the top actually being about 50m away from the large trig point. There were no views, so after a quick cup of tea, it was back down the same way.
