Decided against going up Deuchary Hill the last time I was there because it was so hot, returned today with the intention of doing a simple there and back walk. There were quite a few other cars in the car park but we only met a few people on the walk, and given the route some of them were taking I'm guessing they weren't parked there. The route is easy to follow on a road to The Glack kennels then through a gate to reach Mill Dam where there is a signposted crossroads. Just over a bridge we turned right (signposted Butterstone) and a short distance along Moss found a thing, not sure what it is but she found it interesting! A bit further along we reached the path up Deuchary Hill. It was steep, and had a fair few false summits. I decided on the way up I would have a look at the route down the other side that I'd seen mentioned in a couple of other reports as I didn't fancy heading back down the same way. From the summit the alternative descent path could be seen going through the bracken and heather below and we followed the path down to it, much easier way down though it did add some distance to the walk! Given the time and short daylight hours, at the crossroads we turned left to take the shortest route back to the car park to ensure we were back before it got dark.
