Time to test my knackered knees. No problems getting to Sgurr nam Boc but even on the short descent I was getting some twinges, but only on the steepest part. Other than that this was a near perfect day, albeit partly in drizzly rain.

Nice morning light at Loch Ainort.

Not great weather to start with -drizzly and overcast.

Image
The walk through the forestry isn't as grim as I thought it might be.

Image
No sign of the shortcut indicated on the map so I have an extra 2km of hairpin to walk. Beinn Staic ahead (east).

An Cruachan crags.

Image
After 53 minutes I am clear of the woods.

Waterfall on the other side of the loch.

Image
There's a couple of padlocked gates to negotiate en route to the derelict wireless station. Slightly wary of there being cattle heards but it turns out there's only about two cows, some sheep and several horses.

Zoom north.

Two and a half hours after leaving the car I am looking at Sgurr an Dune and Stac an Tuill.

Looking north again.

Cliff edge leading south to Sgurr an Dune.

More drizzly showers coming in.

Image
There are paths of sorts between the wireless station and Sgurr an Dune.

View from the small neck of land attached to the northern edge of Sgurr nam Boc. I make the mistake of crossing the short, narrow join of land only to discover that there's literally nothing beyond the small area of grass on the other side of this elevated isthmus.

I wait about a bit for the showers to clear.

Patience rewarded with some interesting light in the direction of Rum.

The long and winding road. After seven weeks of light exercise it feels like hard work.

I sang them "On White Horses" but I am not sure if they appreciated it.

Got some very nice cloud on the Black Cuillin:
