This was the first time that we were able to get back out onto the hills. With Su now feeling better after her operation we needed to get a walk under our belts before moving on to bigger and longer walks. There was a nervousness about me as we made our way to Tillicoultry and got our gear together to start out on to the Ochils. The weather was kind with a nip in the air but with good visibility and as we were going along the road at the foot of the Ochils I couldn't get the sight of snow on the tops out of my mind.So we set of on the wee path from Upper Mill street only to find that the path was closed due to danger of rockfalls. Taking the information seriously we found the alternative path and set off up the hill passed the old quarry.

and had a grand wee walk along the shoulder until we came to the bridge where we crossed Gannel Burn and where it meets Daiglen Burn. As we met a small scramble Sue easily climbed it and showde me a clean piece of heels.

Scrambling - easy peasy !

Obviously hospital food isn't that bad! We then carried on the well marked path heading for The Law. As we rose we could see lots of walkers out on the Ochils, especially across to Andrew Gannel Hill, which shows the popularity of the Ochils.

As we rose the Forth of Forth came into sight along with the two Kincardine Bridges and more walkers came into view across on Ben Ever.

As we followed the path upwards we came to patches of snow which were knee deep and made walking a bit harder, and along with the freshening wind we both became aware of the fact that we hadn't walked for some four months.

With that in mind we made the top at The Law and instead of going on to complete Ben Cleuch, we took the sensible option and headed down the hill satisfied that we had done a reasonably steep climb to get the muscles working and a good pipe opener for the next week where Mount Keen was on the agenda to be climbed. We also started to see some good views across to the Glen Lyon area but the main thrill was for us to feel that we had prepared with a super wee walk for the start of our walking season and I would recommend it for anyone.
