Walk today with the SHC was to the top of Carleatheran from Todholes.

Hitchhiked with Nick and Evelyn today due to the limited space for parking at the Todholes car park.

We set off at 0900 following the track opposite the car park past the farm. Following the track it crossed over a river and started climbing up the hill to the left.

We left the track to the left and headed down toward a bridge crossing the Burnfoot burn where we stopped to take a group photo. The bridge was built as part of a heritage trial project by ScotWays.

Taking a sharp right up the fence line for a little bit we met a track by the ruin of Burnfoot farm. Shortly along the track, about 2.5km, after the farm we were stumped when a river ran across the track, too deep to cross. After surveying the burn for areas to cross we ended up traversing a wooden beam where a fence crossed. This had a rat trap in the centre which I accidentally set off. Reached the other side all toes in tact.

Once across there was a good little wall where we stopped for tea, this being at around 1100. Carrying on we made our way following a path up and around the ridge. From here we had some views over Kippen but were unable to see the hills across the valley due to low cloud.

Reaching the summit of carleatheran at 1215 we took shelter behind the wall surrounding the trig point. Setting off again I could feel the beginning of the forecasted rain. Stayed more as drizzle for the remainder of the walk.

We passed through Earlsburn wind farm bypassing earlsburn reservoir before the descent down the track to the car. Reaching the end at 1430. Was a very enjoyable day chatting between all the attendees, 22 of us in total. Another few members met to add to the growing number of names I have to remember.
