Another sunny day, first leg up to Rowardennan was great,,hilly, up and down,,accompanied by John from Cheltenham who was then stopping at Rowardennan to climb Ben Lomond. Second leg up to Inversnaid went on FOREVER, took the beach path which adds about an hour to the walk due to the rocky, scrambling terrain,,Inversnaid did not come quick enough.
- Enjoying the sun by Loch Lomond.
It was a solitary stretch but an amazing desolate stretch which is totally invisible from the other side of the loch. Had a look around a mountain bothy, now that was basic, but could imagine the fire burning and a wee crowd of tired but happy walkers sharing their stories over a tasty fry up.
Came across the wild goats on the path shortly before Inversnaid,,pretty docile but im sure those horns would do you some damage if they took the notion.
- spot of lunch beside the way
Inversnaid Bunkhouse was terrific,,set about a km up a very steep hill, luckily enough the staff spotted me on their way up and offered me a lift,,this is actually a part of their service,,you can arrange for a lift, and although I somehow felt this was cheating,,I was assured it wasnt as you are actually coming off the Way, then returning to the same spot to start again the following day. Bunkhouse comfy, clean and a fantastic restaurant.
- Inversnaid Bunkhouse,,converted church,,smashing place with great staff
